Qualification of African Athletes for the Kickboxing competition during the World Games 2017 in Wroclaw, Poland, were held in Rabat, Morocco, from 23rd – 25th December 2016.
The competition were held in rush and organized in short notice of only 3 weeks by African Kickboxing Confederation (WAKO AFRICA) organizing committee with Royal Morocco Kickboxing & Thaiboxing Federation lead by its President Mr. El Hilali Abdelkarim, and its President fonder, Vice President of WAKO AFRICA and WAKO board member Mr. Driss El Hilali as host and with coordination and assistance of Mr. Nasser Nassiri, President of Asian Kickboxing Confederation (WAKO ASIA) and Vice President of WAKO.
Mr. Emmanuel Essissma, the President of African Kickboxing Confederation who was coordinating the organization of the event for the last 3 week together with Mr. Nassiri and Mr. Driss Elhilali could not obtain the visa entry on time. Mr. Essissma we duly represented by Mr. Driss Elhilali and Mr. Nasser Nassiri during the competition.
Many African countries could not take part in the competition because of short notice imposed by IWGA for qualification of African Athletes. In fact, after postponing from April to December 2014, Madagascar withdraws at the last moment the organization of the 2016 African Kickboxing Championships following its disappointment due to the refusal of WAKO to grant them the organization of the World Championships Despite all the guarantees of the Malagasy State.
The high quality of the organization, very good quality of fights with a real spectacle for more than 1000 spectators. On the event, three Ambassadors of participating countries and WAKO President Dr. Borislav Pelevic as well were present.
The competitions were held only in 12 weigh categories (8 Men and 4 Women) in K1 Rules style required for IWGA 2017.
