The World Anti-Doping Agency announces the appointment of Sébastien Gillot as Director of the , European Regional Office and International Federation Relations.
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Sébastien Gillot as Director, European Regional Office and International Federation Relations. Mr. Gillot will assume the role, in Lausanne, Switzerland on 13 August 2018.
Mr. Gillot is currently Head of Communications for the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), a role he has held since 2014. Prior to the UCI, he held numerous communications/stakeholder engagement roles in the sports industry; most notably, from 2011 – 2014 as Director of Public Relations and Communications for the International Boxing Association (AIBA); in 2011 as Manager of Communications for the Annecy 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Bid Committee; in 2011 as Editor-in-Chief at the Global Sports Forum Barcelona 2011 with Havas Sports & Entertainment; from 2003 – 2011 as Lead Editor of FIFA.com with the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA); and from 2001 – 2003 as Communications Coordinator for the Paris Saint-Germain Football Club.
In his new role, Mr. Gillot will reinforce WADA’s mission by ensuring that the Agency’s objectives are successfully met; in particular, by leading the Agency’s support to IFs, as well as other Anti-Doping Organizations and stakeholders in Europe, in their development of effective anti-doping programs that are compliant with the World Anti-Doping Code.
Mr. Gillot will replace Benjamin Cohen, who will be leaving WADA in the coming weeks to become the first Director General of the new International Testing Agency (ITA).
Mr. Gillot holds a Bachelor of Accounting from the ICS Bégué (Paris); and, a Masters in Communications and Journalism from the Institut Supérieur des Médias de Paris.
